Vocational Skills Training Development

The goal of Vocational Skills Development programme is to provide youth with knowledge, skills and competencies required of jobs, thus empowering the youth to seize employment opportunities or equip them for self-employment.

The four network centers intend to focus on the following program:
  • BIRDS – Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • CARE – Hindupur, Telangana
  • BASE – Biharsharif, Patna
  • AKAS – Dhani, Madhya Pradesh

The program focuses to train youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and provide them with employable skills, coupled with access to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. This expected to facilitate a process where school dropout youth, both boys and girls, lead self-sustained and economically independent lives.

Beneficiaries are:

  • School / College Dropouts
  • Youths from disadvantaged sections of the society.

Summary of the strategies / Activities include the following:​

Identification of potential and deserving youth

Offering vocational skills training in identifies trades

Develop competency standards, course curricula, learning material and assessment standards

Orient learners towards self learning and develop skills in communication

Diversify the programme contents and to establish greater relevance to local socio – economic problems.

Establish linkages with job market and provide career opportunities to trainees.
