Integrated Community Development

The Integrated Community Development aims at Empowering the poor and the marginalized communities by facilitating access of basic social and economic services as well as improving quality of their life.

The five network centers intend to focus on the following program:
  • BIRDS – Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • BIRDS-HEAL – Gulbarga, Karnataka
  • CARE – Hindupur, Telangana
  • CAFED – Venkarapuram, Telangana
  • BASE – Biharsharif, Patna

The program envisages partnering with vulnerable communities to address issues like poverty, exclusion and discrimination by building social infrastructure. Focus areas include livelihood, community health, water & sanitation, education and skills development that are critical for development.

Beneficiaries are:

  • Women
  • Children
  • Dalits and Maha Dalits
  • Tribals

Summary of the strategies / Activities include the following:​

Facilitating community involvement and ownership of people by starting community based women’s groups and leaders

Facilitate access to formal , non formal and vocational education

Creating alternate avenues for income generations and sustainable livelihoods

Facilitating access to basic community health care including awareness in hygiene

Access to welfare schemes and entitlements by networking with service providers.
